Monitoring Life, Not Just Motion

When evaluating a monitoring system for elderly in the home, traditional motion sensors only tell you if someone is walking down a hallway. True home care requires understanding daily living patterns so you can confirm your parent is safe, comfortable, and thriving.

Nomo Smart Care goes beyond simple movement detection to track meaningful daily habits:

Nutritional Wellbeing

Placing a tag on the refrigerator or pantry door lets you verify that Mom is preparing meals regularly throughout the day.

Caregiver Verification

Positioning a smart tag on the front door confirms that visiting home health aides, housekeepers, or physical therapists arrive and leave on schedule.

Morning Routine Confirmation

Tracks when the medicine cabinet opens or the coffee pot turns on, letting you know Dad is up and starting his day.

Routine Continuity

By tracking life rather than isolated steps, Nomo creates the best home monitoring system for the elderly who want to preserve their independence without feeling micromanaged.

This holistic view of daily routines allows adult children to stay informed about overall wellness without making invasive daily check-in calls.

How can The Nomo Smart Care System be used as an Elderly Home Monitoring System?

Using discreet motion sensors and smart tags, Nomo home monitoring for elderly people keeps you informed and allows you to be responsive to their needs without using cameras. It remembers your loved one’s routine and flags disruptions. Even from a distance, it allows you to stay connected and aware of current issues and daily living activities. When patterns change, this smart system sends alerts to your cellphone, adding a layer of safety while still ensuring independence.

Built-In Temperature & Humidity Sensors

Physical falls are not the only danger seniors face when living independently. Extreme environmental conditions inside the house present an invisible threat, especially for older adults who may have reduced temperature sensitivity or hesitate to adjust the thermostat.

Nomo Smart Care satellites include environmental monitoring to safeguard your parent's living space:

Heatwave Alerts

Receive an immediate notification if the air conditioning breaks during a hot summer afternoon before dangerous indoor heat builds up.

Winter Freeze Protection

Get alerted if the heating unit fails during a winter storm, preventing hypothermia or frozen home pipes.

Humidity Tracking

Monitors household humidity levels to ensure a comfortable, healthy respiratory environment year-round.

Proactive Environmental Safety

Protects seniors who might not notice gradual temperature swings or who avoid calling for repair help on their own.

Monitoring environmental conditions adds a critical layer of safety, protecting your loved one's comfort without requiring extra hardware.

Benefits & Other Uses

Know more. Worry less.â„¢ The future of caregiving

Know more. Worry less.â„¢ The future of caregiving

Nomo Smart Care goes beyond simple monitoring by tracking daily activity to keep families connected to their loved one’s routines. From detecting unusual inactivity to sending automatic alerts for falls, missed medications, or changes in behavior, it helps ensure safety without disrupting independence.

The system integrates wearable tags for movement and location tracking, motion-triggered night lights to reduce fall risk, and customizable notifications based on individual habits, all delivered through a caregiver-friendly mobile app. Respecting privacy while supporting independence, the Nomo Smart Care System also syncs with medical devices, provides real-time updates, and offers an emergency button for immediate assistance—helping families stay connected and confident in care decisions while giving loved ones greater peace of mind.

Smart Enough to Ignore the Dog

Caregivers frequently hesitate to install motion-based systems if their parent lives with a pet. An energetic Golden Retriever or a curious cat wandering through the living room can easily trigger false alarms on traditional motion detectors, causing endless frustration.

Nomo Smart Care is specifically engineered to distinguish human behavior from pet activity:

Pattern Recognition

Smart algorithms analyze room-to-room transitions, focusing on distinct human movement habits rather than low-level animal activity.

Targeted Tag Tracking

Smart tags mounted on cabinets, doors, and pillboxes register direct human interaction, bypassing room-level movement altogether.

Reduced False Alarms

Prevents late-night panic alerts caused by a dog stretching or walking over to the water bowl at 2:00 AM.

Pet-Friendly Living

Keeps the entire household protected while allowing pets to roam freely without setting off constant phone notifications.

Your parent can keep enjoying the companionship of their favorite pet without compromising the accuracy of their safety network.

FAQs About Nomo Home Monitor for Elderly

Can I add more Satellites and Tags later?

Yes. There is no limit on the number of Satellites or Tags. Add them in the app under Settings > System > Add & Manage Devices.

What is a Nomo Tag?

A battery-operated wireless movement sensor with an alert button. Attach it to things that move, like doors, drawers and windows, or to a non-moving surface within reach of a high-risk area such as a shower or bathtub.

What does the Hub do?

The Hub is the heart of the system. It senses motion, connects to Wi-Fi, and lets the family call in through the Hub with two-way talk. It has a microphone and speaker for calls over Nomo's private phone network, an LED ring and a privacy switch on the back. Firmware updates are pushed automatically.

What does a Nomo Satellite do?

A Satellite is a plug-in motion sensor that connects over Wi-Fi and extends the Hub's coverage. It detects motion and daily routines, has a light sensor and an LED ring, and turns on motion-triggered night lights for safer movement at night.

What happens if the Wi-Fi or power goes out?

The Hub needs an active Wi-Fi connection to send live updates and alerts. If the home loses internet or power, the app notifies the Care Circle that the system is offline so you can check in. When power or Wi-Fi returns, the system reconnects and re-syncs automatically.

What do I need before I set up the kit?

A private wireless internet connection (network name and password), and a smartphone or tablet running iOS 14.1 or later or Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. These are not included. Have your loved one's contact information (phone number and address) and their Wi-Fi network name and password ready. 2.4 GHz must be enabled on your Wi-Fi (unless disabled, this should already be enabled).

Which device do I set up first?

The Hub. The app guides you into Device Setup; once the Hub is online, set up the Satellites and Tags with the in-app instructions.

Does Nomo use cameras or microphones in my loved one's home?

There are no cameras. Nomo uses discreet motion and movement sensors. Nomo describes the system as having no cameras or active microphones. The Hub does have a microphone and speaker, which it uses for two-way calls with the Care Circle.

What is Nomo Smart Care?

A home monitoring system that uses discreet sensors and AI to learn daily routines and alert you to unusual activity, with no cameras. It supports independent living for aging adults, people with special needs and people recovering from illness.

Is a subscription required, and what does it cost?

Yes, a subscription is required for the app's monitoring features. The essential+ subscription is $19.99/month after the free trial, with no contracts; cancel anytime.

How does Nomo know something might be wrong?

It learns your loved one's daily routine and notifies you if something seems off, such as missed medication or a late start to the day. It looks for small changes, like moving less than usual or sleeping in longer than normal.

Does the kit detect falls?

Nomo sensors are designed to detect sudden falls and periods of inactivity and can automatically alert caregivers and emergency services when a potential emergency is detected. A Tag worn as a pendant can also be used as a panic button and may provide fall detection.

Fall detection is not guaranteed to detect every fall. If you need help, always press the button on your Tag to send an alert.

Who calls 911 if nobody in the Care Circle responds?

Under the current essential+ plan, caregivers receive calls, texts and notifications three times over 15 minutes until someone resolves the alert in the app. If nobody responds, the alert escalates to 911.

What are Goals?

Goals let you track Mobility, Sleep, Eating and Regularity routines. For each goal you set a term and target, and you can choose to send reminders and receive notifications. Open them from Home > Goals (or Settings > Activities & Goals). You can track medicine, but it is not a specific Goal option.

How do I add family members to the Care Circle?

In the app, tap the Care tab (heart icon), then Caregivers, then Add & Invite. Enter the person's name and phone number and tap Add to Care Circle. They receive a text invite from Nomo Smart Care; they tap the link, tap Begin, enter the invite code and follow the app to set up their caregiver profile.

What does the essential+ plan include?

24/7 emergency services with a live operator, real-time insights and alerts, automatic fall detection with alerts to family, and a 1-tap panic button on a Tag or the Hub. No contracts and easy cancellation.

Can I connect health devices like a blood pressure monitor?

Yes. Under Vitals you can connect compatible Bluetooth health devices so readings appear in the Nomo app alongside routine insights.
