Nomo Smart Care Wins Red Dot Design Award for Product Design

Nomo Smart Care™ Essential Care Kit is Smart Design with Peace of Mind Baked In

EDINA, MN (April 25, 2024) – Nomo Smart Care (Nomo), the first fully digital option for caregivers that allows them to check if a loved one’s motion and activity are normal and quickly tell if they’re not, has been honored with the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024. The Nomo Smart Care™ Essential Care Kit was heralded for high design quality. The Kit includes the Nomo Smart Care communications hub, movement tags, and motion satellites.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for the recognition by the Red Dot Award jury. This award is a testament to the dedication and creativity of our amazing team of designers, whose innovative work is making a meaningful impact in improving how families care for their loved ones,” said Kevin Ray, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, Nomo Smart Care.

The Red Dot Design Award

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. The Red Dot Label has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design.

Every year, the renowned Red Dot Award: Product Design honors products that impress with their exceptionally high design quality. The award is based on the decision of the Red Dot jury. The experts assess the submissions based on the four basic principles of good design: the quality of function, the quality of seduction, the quality of use and the quality of responsibility.

In 2024, the Red Dot jury is made up of 39 experts from 20 countries on 4 continents. The entries came from 60 countries.

Design with Peace of Mind Included

Unlike traditional medical alert systems, Nomo allows caregivers to check in to see if a loved one’s motion and activity are normal – called Normal Motion -- and quickly tell if they’re not, all without the use of cameras. Tracking normal motion is something simple potential fall detection systems or cameras can’t do.

The Nomo hub, satellites, and sensor tags reports and logs motion and movement all day and at night. Nomo then sends that information to the easy and intuitive app. This free-to-download app connects the loved one, their family members, and caregivers so they can spot pattern changes in normal notion in real time. For example, when a medicine cabinet is opened on time, or not opened, or when kitchen pantries are left untouched, or when she gets out of bed. If needed, Nomo offers direct-to-911 voice connectivity.

These pattern changes can be an early warning sign to caregivers, allowing them to intervene early before small things become big ones. The Nomo Smart Care Essential Care Kit retails for $250 and is available at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, and on nomosmartcare.com.
